The internet is a public space, (or at least one open to the public), and it is common knowledge that items here have been copied and distributed without the informed consent of their authors. . This offers risk and reward to both parties.

For the artist, particularly a little known one, such as myself, copying is publicity -- provided proper credit is made. . But even with proper credit, copying in a free medium can dry up an artist's income stream.

The viewer has the advantage of free access to the work of a variety of people. . However if those people cannot support themselves, the quality of art suffers. . The internet community has the option, (not legal, but for practical purposes not enforceable), of free-copying from all at will. . Although this pisses off the big labels no end. . . Ultimately, it will favor those artists with corporate backing.

To sum up the paragraphs below, (in non-binding language), I am releasing basic non-commercial rights, while reserving commercial ones. .If you wish to make money from my work, contact me.

The "Falling man and Phoenix" design -- (visible at the top of the home page).
The "No longer Michael" design -- (shown on many pages, including predictably, the "No longer Michael" page).

I ask all to respect that and to make no commercial use of same. .All commercial, cover and adaptation rights to these are reserved.

For a long time I had trademark registration pending on the "No longer Michael" name itself. .This has lapsed, and I will probably not re-apply. .If you honestly believe yourself to be a "No longer Michael", by any route, then I will patient with your enigma, if you will with mine -- for I still use the name in trade -- (see the title of the website).

I will accept your trade use of "No longer Michael" (X); if you accept my continued trade use of "No longer Michael" (Young).

At various places in the site I state that trademark registration is pending on "No longer Michael". .That was true at the time. .Such statements will be removed as the site is updated.
